Ada D. Astacio
Ada D. Astacio is an artist, native of Puerto Rico. She has been a resident of the state of Georgia for two decades and is finally fulfulling her life-long dream of painting professionally. Although she has a Master's degree in sciences, she is a self-taught artist who has worked in acrylics and oils, but has found her passion to be in watercolors and colored pencils. Already an award-winning artist, her love of nature is visible in her vibrant work. She has evolved from a traditional photo-realistic watercolor artist, pushing the media up a notch as she maintains the realism of the subject while abstracting the surroundings. She integrates earthly motifs, like textures and dimensionality, to an otherwise soft and translucent medium. In doing so, she effectively anchors the viewer into a visual exploration of color, composition, and use of light. She exhibits her artwork throughout the state of Georgia where some of her watercolors are part of the permanent collection of local businesses and have been exhibited in the Governor's office. Some of her latest creations may be seen at Arts Clayton's gallery in Jonesboro. She is a member of the Georgia Watercolor Society, Visual Arts Collective of Henry county, and the Colored Pencil Society of America.
